CITYWIDE GOLF COURSES

The City and County of San Francisco has 6 municipal golf courses under the jurisdiction of the Recreation and Parks Department. Reservations for Harding Park Golf Course, Lincoln Park Golf Course and Sharp Park Golf Course can be made through the automated tee time reservation system by calling 415-750-GOLF (415-750-4653) or online at www.sfteetimes.com. Golf reservations will be accepted by the automated tee time service or online seven (7) days in advance starting at 7am (example; you may call on Monday at 7am for a reservation the following Monday).

How to Obtain a San Francisco Golf Resident Card for use at Golden Gate Park, Fleming, Harding Park, Lincoln Park, and Sharp Park Golf Courses.

A San Francisco golf resident card may be used for the privilege of making advanced reservations for golf play through the Department's Golf Reservation System and, upon presentation to the starter at the golf course, for discounted golf fees.

Where To Apply:

As of July 1, 2002, residents of San Francisco and Pacifica may go to the Treasurer's Office located on the first floor of City Hall, in room 140, between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, to apply for the appropriate resident card. Applicants must apply for the card in person.

Please Note: Golf Resident Cards are NOT ISSUED at any of our Golf Courses and/or Recreation & Parks Department main office.

How to Qualify:

To qualify as a San Francisco resident, applicants must present the following:

1. A valid California State Driver's License ("CDL") or California State Identification Card ("CID") with a San Francisco address, or other government - issued Photo ID - AND -

2. One other piece of information evidencing proof of residency. Acceptable items are utility bills, property tax statements, bank account statements or any other recurring bills that have been received within the last 90 days showing the same name and sent to the same address listed on your CDL or CID.

NOTE: If you are supplying a Driver's License with an address other than where you currently live in San Francisco-or-if you are supplying a government-issued ID that does not have an address you must supply TWO pieces of residency information as described above in item #2.

If you are the legal owner of property within the City and County of San Francisco and pay taxes on that property, you will qualify as a San Francisco Resident and may receive a card, even though you live outside the City limits. You will need to supply proof (i.e. property tax receipt, copy of a deed) along witht the applicable requirements listed under "How to Qualify". This policy also applies to Pacifica property owners who live outside the City of Pacifica for cards to be used only at Sharp Park Golf Course.

To qualify as a Pacifica resident, applicants must present the following the same as above evidencing a Pacifica address. Please note Pacifica resident cards are valid for discounted golf fees at Sharp Park only.

Cost:

The cost of the resident card is ninety dollars ($90.00).

How long will the card be valid:

As of January 1, 2010, only 2-year cards will be issued. Upon expiration, if you choose to renew by mail, you will be asked to submit photocopies of the same proofs of residency required above. Occasionally you may be asked to return to the Treasurer's Office for renewal so that we might obtain an up-to-date photograph.

Property of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department:

Resident cards are the property of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. Resident cards are for the use of current residents of San Francisco and Pacifica only. Golfers may be refused playing privileges for submitting false information for the purpose of securing a resident card. Any misuse of a resident card may result in the card being revoked.

Harding Park (18 hole) and Fleming (9 hole) Golf Courses are located at Skyline Blvd. and Harding Road in San Francisco (415-664-4690). The course was designed by Willie Watson and opened in 1930. The course is bordered on three sides by Lake Merced, offering several scenic views of the surrounding area. This championship tournament course is on slightly rolling grounds and moderately forested with mature cypress and pine trees. Harding Park is one of the City-owned courses which hosts the annual San Francisco City Golf Championship, one of the oldest running amateur golf events in the country. Harding Park has also played host to numerous professional golf tournaments over its long history.

Lincoln Park Golf Course (18 hole) is located at 34th Avenue at Clement Street in San Francisco (415-221-9911). This par 68 course, designed by Tom Bendelow and opened in 1928, is 5,149 yards long and offers magnificent views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. The course is moderately forested with mature cypress and pine trees and native landscaping on rolling and sometimes steep hills. Lincoln Park is also one of the courses used for the annual San Francisco City Golf Championships. Sharp Park Golf Course (18 hole) is located at the foot of Sharp Park Road off Interstate 280 in Pacifica, CA (650-359-3380). The course, opened in 1931, was originally designed by famed architect Alister Mackenzie and landscaped by John McLaren. The par 72 course is 6,299 yards long and offers fabulous views of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding areas. This is a walkable inland and seaside course lined with Cypress and Pine trees that wraps around Laguna Salada, a natural lake ringed with reeds, cattails and tulles. Living in the marsh are a variety of birds including mallards, coots and red-winged blackbirds. Tee time reservations can be obtained by calling the golf reservation system at 415-750-GOLF (415-750-4653).

Golden Gate Park Golf Course (9 hole) is located in the western end of Golden Gate Park near 47th Avenue and Fulton Street in San Francisco (415-751-8987). The course was originally opened in 1951 as a "Pitch and Putt" course. The par 27 course is 1,357 yards long and offers nine holes of golf within one of the country's most magnificent urban park settings. This course is the perfect location for beginning players or for more accomplished players to hone their games. Golden Gate Park Golf course offers summer junior golf camps available to juniors at all levels of play. No tee off time reservations taken. First come first serve.

Gleneagles Golf Course (9 hole) is located in McLaren Park at 2100 Sunnydale Avenue, between Brookdale and Persia Street in San Francisco (415-587-2425). This challenging par 36 course designed by John Fleming and opened in 1962 is 3,195 yards long and is a hidden jewel with beautiful vistas located in the far southern part of the City. This nine hole course can be played as 18 holes from different tee and pin locations that challenges even the most astute golfer. The course is moderate to heavily forested and located on rolling and sometimes steep hills. Tee time reservations can be made by calling the golf shop.
